Atrium expands InsurX partnership by adding smart follow capacity

Atrium Underwriters has expanded its partnership with InsurX Limited, a provider of smart following technology.

Atrium’s Syndicate 609 is a recognized smart leader on the platform and will participate in InsurX as an independent smart follower market.

This enables Atrium to follow its own lead property Direct and Facultative (D&F) lines via the InsurX algorithm engine, an industry first, according to the company.

The announcement comes as the partnership celebrates a major financial milestone, with more than $100 million in smart follow GWP tied through the alliance since its inception.

This number highlights the rapid shift in broker adoption and the real estate market’s growing reliance on frictionless, rules-based transactions.

Nick Leppard, Head of D&F Real Estate at Atrium, commented: “With a GWP of nearly $100 million for our existing Smart Follow alliance, we see clear value in algorithmic underwriting for complex risks.

“Expanding our engagement with InsurX’s Smart Following technology demonstrates our unwavering commitment to providing a consistent, efficient path to capacity for our brokers and clients.”

Since January 2024, InsurX has provided algorithmic following capabilities to Atrium’s leading real estate D&F range, allowing brokers to quickly and efficiently gain following capabilities behind recognized market leaders.

Adding independent smart following capabilities increases the indexability of the entire InsurX platform, allowing more Atrium risks through the smart following mechanism.

This provides brokers with greater flexibility and access to more Atrium lines, while expanding the risk flows discovered by insurers through transparent, rules-based algorithms.

Gilbert Harrap, co-founder and CEO of InsurX, said: “Atrium has been one of our flagship Smart Leads from day one and their decision to follow their own lead with InsurX is a strong endorsement of the model. It shows real confidence in their underwriting and our technology.”

“For brokers, this means easier and faster access to additional Atrium capacity; for panels, it increases indexing and the amount of risk across the platform. It’s also a clear sign of the growth we’re seeing in smart follower adoption; and a trend the market will be watching closely as we head into 2026.”
