On the latest episode of Ant and Dec’s Beltabox podcast, the presenting duo were taken aback by an email from one listener.

In it, the fan suggested that the iconic drumbeat in the I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here theme song bears a striking resemblance to the 1994 song Tonight I’m Free (Cool Mix) by PJ and Duncan.

For those who weren’t aware, PJ and Duncan were the names of the characters that Ant and Dec played in Byker Grove, which they then used as the names for their short-lived pop career together back in the early 90s.

In a clip shared on Instagram, Ant joked: “We have to play this because we might sue ourselves.”

After comparing the two songs for themselves, Dec agreed that “somebody’s getting sued”, to which Ant retorted: “Yeah, and I’m going to counter-sue you.”

However, they can seemingly hold back on suing and counter-suing one another for now. According to The Independent, the sample in I’m A Celebrity’s opening music actually comes from the 1975 song Africano by Earth, Wind & Fire, as well as Boom Crash Opera’s 1989 offering Get Out Of The House!.

I’m A Celebrity isn’t the only show with an Easter egg in its theme music, though.

It’s actually the voice of actor Matt Berry, famous for his roles in shows such as Toast of London and Garth Merenghi’s Dark Place.

As well as his vocal lendings, Matt also plays the guitar track that you can hear throughout the Strictly theme.

Dan McGrath, who wrote the song with fellow composer Josh Phillips ― is friends with Matt, and they’ve worked on TV shows like House Of Fools together, which is how he came to end up on the song we know and love.

During a 2021 PaleyFest panel discussion for his show What We Do In The Shadows, Matt opened up about his uncredited role in Strictly’s theme.

In response, an audience member asked the question on all of our minds: “Do you get a little bit of money every time that we hear that?”

“Nothing,” Matt replied instantly.
