Edward Sheppard will serve as Chief Brokerage Officer, leading the CP&I portfolio and accelerating AI12’s global specialty growth strategy.
Previously, AI12 had been authorized by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) to become a regulated entity within the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC).
In his new role, Sheppard will be responsible for leading the expansion of AI12’s specialty products, specifically property and casualty (P&C) reinsurance, with a primary focus on the construction, power and infrastructure (CP&I) sectors.
He will also work closely with founder and CEO Anvar Mullabekov and COO Richard Prenter.
Mullabekov said: “Edward’s appointment comes at an important turning point for AI12. His technical expertise and market credibility will be instrumental as we evolve from a recognized aviation leader to a boutique specialist broker offering a diverse global service offering.
“Edward reinforces our drive and mission to expand our professional practice while maintaining our client-first DNA and delivering long-term value to clients and shareholders.”
Sheppard brings a wealth of experience, having worked at Marsh McLennan for more than 16 years, including more than 10 years in senior leadership roles.
During his tenure, he held leadership roles across multiple functions across the Middle East and Africa, including client services, brokerage, placement and power and renewables.
He has extensive experience in the design and layout of large, complex international investment portfolios, specializing in sectors such as construction, power, renewable energy, petrochemicals and other industrial sectors.
Sheppard commented: “The strength of a broker is based on long-term relationships, deep expertise and innovative solutions. Our goal is to create the best boutique insurance broker in the world, where our messaging is accurate, our focus is rigorous and underpinned by a client-first approach.
“AI12 provides something that many larger organizations struggle to provide: direct access to decision makers and delivery of customized solutions quickly and clearly. My top priority is to build a strong professional brand, expand CP&I capabilities and bring clients closer to the people who build and place risk.”
“Edward’s leadership experience and ability to manage complex portfolios are directly relevant to AI12’s next phase of growth,” added Chief Operating Officer Prenter.
