Global insurance company American International Group (AIG) announced the appointment of Adam Clifford as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Commercial Insurance, effective January 5, 2026.
Based in London, Clifford will leverage his nearly 30 years of global insurance leadership experience to lead AIG’s international commercial insurance team, including underwriting, distribution and business operations in the UK, EMEA, Japan, Asia Pacific and Latin America.
This includes oversight of the Talbot, Global Professional and Multinational divisions.
He will report to General Insurance CEO Jon Hancock and will join the AIG General Insurance executive leadership team.
“Adam is a highly respected insurance executive recognized for his leadership and deep underwriting and technology expertise,” Hancock said.
Added: “With more than thirty years of global operating experience and a proven track record, including seven years at AIG leading underwriting teams, Adam brings deep insurance industry knowledge and global perspective to this position. I look forward to welcoming Adam back to AIG and working with him and the team to continue building on our strong momentum.”
Clifford joins AIG from Everest Insurance where he served as senior vice president and head of international retail insurance, where he oversaw retail insurance operations in the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining Everest, he held senior leadership positions at Chubb, including Group Managing Director of Chubb Europe. Earlier in his career, he led AIG’s underwriting teams in London and Singapore.
