Verisk integrates insurance analytics & gen AI with Anthropic’s Claude via MCP connectors

Verisk, a global provider of data analytics and technology for the insurance industry, has integrated its robust insurance analytics and generative artificial intelligence capabilities with artificial intelligence company Anthropic’s Claude Enterprise.

The standardized Verisk Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector facilitates this integration, allowing insurance and property restoration professionals to conversationally gain insights in a secure, managed environment.

Verisk’s analytics and AI-driven solutions are used by the top 100 U.S. property and casualty insurance companies as well as re/insurers and brokers globally.

Its deep understanding of insurance processes, platforms and workflows enables it to responsibly support the next evolution of how insurance professionals handle trusted data and analytics through artificial intelligence.

Building on this foundation, Verisk introduces a conversational layer on top of its trusted analytics – enabling the following capabilities in an enterprise AI environment:

Verisk’s MCP connector enables insurance professionals to use generative AI to access their proprietary regulatory-grade data and analytics, governed by Verisk’s data governance framework.

This allows insights to be surfaced through natural language, eliminating the need to navigate multiple systems. The result is faster, more reliable acceleration of critical underwriting and claims workflows.

“Trust is the foundation of insurance, and that’s not going to change with the advent of new technologies,” said Lee Shavel, president and CEO of Verisk. “What is changing is the way professionals expect to interact with information. Our role is to bring AI to insurance in a way that reflects the realities of the industry—data must be authoritative, decisions must be explainable, and accountability remains with the people. The partnership with Anthropic brings conversational interfaces to Verisk’s controlled analytics so professionals can work more efficiently while maintaining the industry’s high standards.”

Verisk has launched two connectors in Claude to provide conversational access to its proprietary analytics for underwriting and recovery use cases: Verisk Underwriting Intelligence (ISO Instructions) and Verisk XactRestore.

With Verisk Underwriting Intelligence, insurers can use conversational queries within their underwriting workflow to obtain loss cost trends, experience insights and archived signals from Verisk’s Insurance Services Office (ISO).

Underwriters and actuaries can query loss cost trends, experience insights and submit signals in a conversational way.

Verusk estimates that this integration can save operators hundreds of hours per year by consolidating data that previously required multiple tools to access.

The Verisk XactRestore connector is targeted at restoration contractors. The tool provides conversational access using natural language to research pricing and evaluate intelligence. For experienced contractors, you can expect to save 30 minutes to two hours per estimate.

Verisk’s approach remains model and platform agnostic, enabling customers to integrate Verisk data, insights and artificial intelligence into their existing environments, regardless of their strategy or vendor choice.

The partnership with Anthropic builds on the company’s two-decade history of embedding artificial intelligence throughout the insurance ecosystem through strict governance and compliance protocols.

Shavel added: “Responsible use of generative AI is not just about efficiency, it’s about helping insurers make informed decisions so that consumers and policyholders have clarity, confidence and support when it matters most.”
