QBE Re, the reinsurance arm of global insurance group QBE, has announced the appointment of Lian Phua as head of credit reinsurance.
Based in New York, Phua will report to Salvatore Sama, Executive Director, QBE Re North America, and work closely with Shane Lawlor, Executive Director and Head of Professionals.
In this newly created role, she will set the strategic direction for QBE Re’s credit portfolio and develop underwriting strategies for global political risk, trade credit, guarantees, mortgages and other credit treaty lines.
Phua has two decades of industry experience, specializing in political risk and credit. She joins QBE Re after 13 years at AXA XL, where she held a variety of senior roles, most recently as Head of Americas, Global Political Risk, Credit and Commercial Bonds.
Prior to that, she worked at QBE North America as a credit risk analyst, structural trade and political risk analyst.
