Bermuda-based Calidris Investment Partners, an insurance-focused investment management firm backed by RedBird Capital Partners, announced the expansion of its senior team with the hiring of three new strategic personnel.
James Larner serves as Director of Investor Engagement, Chelsea Smith serves as Finance and Operations Manager, and Abigail Exon serves as Quantitative Strategy Manager.
In his new role, Larner will lead Calidris’ global capital partnership strategy, including investor outreach and relationship management.
He has two decades of capital formation experience and a proven track record of delivering solutions to institutional investors, family offices, asset managers and investment advisors.
Larner joins the firm from a decade at Partners Group and Pillar Capital, where he led business development and investor relations for a broad range of clients.
“We are pleased to welcome James to the Calidris team,” said Daniel Miller, co-founder and co-CEO of Calidris. “This appointment marks an important milestone in the growth of the company’s organization and underscores our commitment to establishing a capital formation process that provides responsive, high-quality service to our partners.” “
Smith joins from Deloitte and will help manage external relationships while supporting the continued growth of the platform’s financial and operational capabilities.
The executive spent a decade at Deloitte, working with complex multinational clients across multiple industries.
In his new role at Calidris, Exon will be a member of the quantitative strategy team and will help build the firm’s analytical framework.
She joins from Ki, having previously worked at Ascot in Bermuda and London, where she focused on building tools to support underwriting portfolio management.
Philippe Trahan, co-founder and co-CEO of Calidris, said: “The addition of Chelsea and Abigail to the team helps strengthen our internal capabilities at an important stage in our growth. The depth of talent we attract reflects the strength of our platform.
“These employees bring the specialized technical skills and market insights needed to support our disciplined investment approach and ensure operational excellence as our portfolio grows. Our goal remains to provide our partners with a differentiated path to mitigating volatile property and casualty insurance risks through a best-in-class institutional platform.”
Calidris entered the market in January 2026, successfully completing its first insured sidecar transaction, George Street Re (sponsored by QBE Re). The company was founded in early 2025 by Daniel Miller and Philippe Trahan.
