Allianz SE, a holding company of Allianz Group, announced a global partnership with artificial intelligence (AI) research and development company Anthropic to accelerate the development of responsible artificial intelligence in the insurance sector.

The partnership focuses on three key projects within the Allianz Group and aims to empower Allianz employees and accelerate operations while setting new accuracy benchmarks.

Oliver Bäte, CEO of Allianz SE, commented: “With this partnership, Allianz is taking a decisive step to solve key AI challenges in insurance. Anthropic’s focus on security and transparency complements our unwavering dedication to customer excellence and stakeholder trust.

“Together we are building solutions that prioritize what matters most to our customers while setting new standards for innovation and resiliency.”

The collaboration will initially focus on three core areas, where joint projects are already underway:

  1. Leveraging AI to empower people and reimagine code – Alianz is integrating Anthropic’s “Claude” model into its in-house AI platform. This includes using Claude Code to help thousands of developers and using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to securely integrate data sources across the team.
  2. Agent AI Automation for Speed and Customer Excellence – Allianz and Anthropic are developing custom AI agents capable of orchestrating multi-step workflows and automating labor-intensive processes at scale – from taking documents to claims processing in areas such as auto insurance and health insurance. The agents aim to reduce and speed up payments while maintaining “human interaction principles” in sensitive or very complex cases taken over by Allianz employees.
  3. Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Drive Transparency and Compliance – The parties collaborate to co-develop an AI system designed to meet insurance-specific risk and regulatory requirements by carefully documenting every decision, rationale and data source. The move is designed to ensure that all actions taken by AI are fully traceable and fully compliant.

This partnership is consistent with Anthropic’s responsible expansion policy and Allianz’s customer-centric focus. The insurance company already uses AI for real-time roadside assistance and fast pet insurance payouts; this partnership further expands those capabilities.

Dario Amodei, CEO and co-founder of Anthropic, said: “Insurance is an industry where the stakes for using AI are particularly high: decisions can impact millions of people. Allianz and Anthropic both take this very seriously, and we look forward to working together to deliver better insurance to those who rely on AI.”
