Re/insurer AXA XL has announced major promotions within its reinsurance division, effective January 1, 2026. Julian Longbottom has been promoted to Global Head of Reinsurance Marine & Energy, while Jamie Pedro has been appointed Specialty Head of Bermuda Reinsurance.
In his new role, Longbottom will be responsible for AXA XL Reinsurance’s marine and energy businesses globally, driving strategy, growth and customer-focused solutions. Longbottom has more than a decade of experience at AXA XL and brings extensive expertise in strategic development, including expanding the company’s product portfolio in Japan.
Pedro will lead global full account reinsurance risk and work with Longbottom to manage marine and energy reinsurance in Bermuda. Pedro will also draw on his 15 years of experience in AXA XL’s Bermuda Property & Casualty Reinsurance division to continue working closely with the core clients of the Property & Casualty Reinsurance portfolio.
