The company said in a blog post on Tuesday that Gaurav Gupta, co-founder and head of supply of Indian food delivery platform Zomato, will leave the company in six years.
Gupta played an important role in helping to establish Zomato’s premium membership subscription and advertising and sales, and was promoted to the position of founder in March 2019.
Gupta sent an email to everyone in Zomato on September 14. He said this:
I fell in love with Zomato and will always be. I came back 6 years ago and don’t know what the result will be. What an exciting and wonderful journey this is. Be proud of where we are today, be proud of the difficulties we have overcome in getting here, and be even more proud of what we will achieve in the future.
I have been asked this question-where does all this energy come from, and what makes you persevere? The answer is simple and very unique to us-from all of you amazing people and how this group of people come together to create miracles.
A new turning point is taking place in my life and a new chapter will be opened. I have learned a lot from this decisive chapter in my life-in the last 6 years of Zomato. We now have a great team to push Zomato forward, and now it’s time for me to take a different path in the journey. I was very emotional when I was writing this article, and I think no words can accurately express how I feel right now.
I can’t ask for more-I am very grateful for all the experiences I have and thank everyone around me for helping me become a better person. I will not be able to stay away from all of you, you will see me around and in action from time to time. How can I not go to the city hall-aisa to ho hi nahin sakta ????
Thank you Deepi for making me a part of this journey. I will always cherish the good time we spent together. I have always learned a lot from you, and I know in my heart that you will take Zomato to a height that most people can’t even imagine.
A big hug to MG (Mohit Gupta), Akshant, Akriti and RG (Rahul Ganjoo), because they have become such excellent partners in this journey.
Love you guys. Do what you do best-create magic. Super proud of all of you.
thanks @grvgpta – The past 6 years have been amazing and we have come a long way. Our journey still has a long way to go, and I am grateful that we have a great team and leadership to push us forward. https://t.co/AJAmC5ie6R

Our journey still has a long way to go, and I am very grateful for you to hang up your boots at the moment when we have a great team and leadership to push us forward.
Thank you for being a better friend to me than anyone I have ever had. I can’t imagine daily life in Zomato without you. You will miss it very much. wish all the best!
