Solar panels against the alien landscape, ramps and poles point to the horizon of Mars-China’s first exploration of the red planet after its historic landing last week has already shed light on its first batch of “selfies” .
Last Saturday, during the first successful landing of any country’s first mission to Mars, the Rover Zhu Rong was taken into the Martian atmosphere on a lander.
Zhu Rong, named after China’s mythical god of fire, was months later than the United States’ latest exploration of Mars-perseverance-and has been praised in China as a milestone in its rise to the status of a space superpower.
The National Space Administration released images taken by cameras installed on the rover on Wednesday, showing the obstacle avoidance equipment and solar panels on the vehicle, as well as the texture of the surface of Mars.
NASA said in a social media post containing these images: “Internet folks, the image of Mars you’ve been longing for is here.”
The landing of the rover was a pain for Chinese aerospace engineers. The official media described the use of parachutes to slow down the descent and cushion the legs as “the most challenging part of the mission.”
It is expected to spend about three months there taking pictures and collecting geographic data.
China has come a long way in catching up with the United States and Russia. Astronauts and astronauts from the United States and Russia have decades of experience in space exploration.
Last month, it successfully launched the first module of the new space station, hoping that it will be launched before 2022 and eventually send humans to the moon.
