XPT Specialty, a wholesale broker of commercial and personal insurance, announced the appointment of Liam Sole as vice president/senior underwriter of its commercial insurance division.
In his new role, Saul will focus on property and casualty risk, with an emphasis on supporting East Coast operations, particularly in New York.
His areas of expertise include residential, construction, hotels and motels, restaurants and bars, mixed-use buildings, manufacturing, distributors and vacant properties.
Sole has developed a broad range of skills with over 11 years of experience in the property and casualty risk areas of the excess and surplus lines insurance markets.
Prior to joining XPT, he worked at Bass Underwriters, where he focused on developing expertise in commercial underwriting. During his tenure, starting as an underwriting associate in 2014, he steadily progressed to become a junior underwriter and then a commercial underwriter.
XPT Specialty said his hands-on experience in risk assessment and extensive knowledge of the excess and surplus (E&S) market make him a reliable partner for retail collaborators.
“Liam’s background is exactly what we were looking for – someone who grew up in the E&S space and understands the nuances of underwriting complex commercial risks,” said Gregg Guerreiro, regional executive vice president. “We are eager to have him on board as we continue to build our capabilities on the East Coast.”
“XPT Specialty’s reputation for strong market relationships and customer-focused service made this decision an easy one,” said Sole. “I look forward to working together and applying what I’ve learned over the past decade to help our retail partners operate in markets that require expertise and creativity.”
