Xbox Series X and Series S may get improved controllers in the future, said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. Spencer recently participated in a podcast where he was asked about future hardware, but did not reveal much. He hinted that the Xbox team might be inspired by the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. The Xbox Series X and Series S controllers are almost the same as the previous generation Xbox One controllers, with some minor improvements.

Microsoft adopted the “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it” method on its Xbox Series X and Series S controllers. They have the same overall feel and beauty as Xbox One controllers. On the other hand, Sony has made major upgrades to its controller technology and feel. PS5’s DualSense controller comes with immersive tactile feedback and dynamic adaptive triggers. These upgrades have been widely appreciated by gamers. In the Kinda Funny Gamescast podcast praised Sony’s DualSense controller, Phil Spencer shared that the company may introduce some of the technology into the Xbox controller.

“We are definitely thinking about different types of equipment that can bring more games to more places. We might do some work on the controller. I think Sony has done a good job on their controller, and we will look at it. Some of them… should we do something?” Spencer said.

However, he did go on to say that “it may not be in more customized accessories now.” Spencer also talked about VR and said that as of now, Xbox has no plans around VR or AR. He added: “Because it is specifically related to VR, the best experience I have seen is Quest 2. I just think it is not limited… its ease of use is not limited in terms of its functionality. , It’s not necessary for me to connect to Xbox in any way.”
