Willis Re hires Credit, Surety and Political Risk expert James Loggie

Willis Re, a reinsurance advisory and brokerage firm that is part of WTW, has announced that James Loggie will join the firm after completing his obligations to his former employer.

Loggie has more than 25 years of experience in credit, surety and political risk, working extensively with major multi-line insurance companies, Lloyd’s syndicates, banks, captives, managing general agents and state-backed insurance companies.

Most recently, he served as Managing Director (MD) of Howden Re, the reinsurance brokerage company.

Previously, he spent more than a decade at Willis Re, where he held senior roles in the firm’s international credit, guarantees and political risk businesses.

Loggie has developed extensive expertise in working with export credit agencies (ECAs) to introduce Japanese ECA (NEXI) and Saudi Arabian ECA (Saudi Exim) into the treaty reinsurance market.

Willis Re explained that he has also made significant contributions to the development of other ECAs, including Sinosure (China) and EIFO (Denmark).

He began his career in 1999 as an underwriting associate at Euler Hermes, eventually serving as account manager and senior underwriter at Atradius, senior underwriter at AIG and later as vice president at Guy Carpenter.

Willis Re board member Lucy Clarke commented on the appointment: “James is able to combine strong technical expertise with a passion for developing future leaders.

“As a dedicated mentor, James has provided support to his colleagues, many of whom have gone on to senior roles within the industry. James has enhanced our ability to serve our clients while helping us develop the next generation of talent at Willis Re.
