Verisk, the strategic data analytics and technology partner to the global insurance industry, has announced the launch of Verisk General Insurance UK & Ireland, a new business unit that unifies its offerings across underwriting, claims and policy administration solutions.
The unit is designed to support smarter, data-driven decision-making across the insurance market.
The business brings together International Underwriting, Property and Risk (IUPR), Claims UK and Ignite in a reorganization aimed at increasing connectivity across the insurance industry and deepening collaboration with insurers.
Chris Sawford has been appointed managing director of Verisk General Insurance UK & Ireland, overseeing the business.
He has been with Verisk for almost eight years, most recently leading the company’s UK claims business, working closely with insurers to address operational challenges and supporting industry-wide efforts to advance claims practices and decision-making.
Sawford also co-founded UK claims management solutions provider Validus-IVC, which was acquired by Verisk in 2018.
“Insurers today are balancing rising risk complexity with rising expectations for speed, accuracy and resiliency,” said Soford. “This realignment enhances our ability to enable insurers to make more confident and insightful decisions throughout the insurance lifecycle, helping them price risk more effectively, manage claims more effectively and ultimately deliver better outcomes for policyholders in a rapidly changing market.”
Tim Rayner, CEO of General Insurance and Specialty Business Solutions UK and Ireland at Verisk, said: “With Chris leading this integrated organization, we will strengthen collaboration across the market and accelerate innovation, designed to help insurers adapt to emerging risks while improving policyholder trust, protection and value.”
Verisk General Insurance in the UK and Ireland will deliver connected claims capabilities to help insurers manage operational complexity, enhance fraud detection and drive more consistent outcomes across the entire claims lifecycle. IUPR helps insurers assess property, auto and commercial risks using rich data, hazard insights and location-based risk indicators to support more informed risk selection.
The business also includes policy administration and lifecycle management capabilities (Ignite), which enable insurers to effectively manage policies, streamline workflows and improve operational consistency throughout the end-to-end insurance lifecycle.
