Peskov told reporters on Monday that the Kremlin first needs to know the details of the 49-year-old SpaceX and Tesla CEO proposals.

Putin’s spokesperson said: “This is of course a very interesting proposal, but we need to understand the meaning in a certain way, the proposal.”

“So we will first check all these in some way, and then we will react.”

He also pointed out that he was referring to Musk’s suggestion that the man said during a chat in the club that “President Putin does not directly use social networks.”

Musk’s proposal was to end Russia’s monopoly as the only country capable of transporting astronauts after SpaceX sent four astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) in November.

After the U.S. space shuttle was shut down in 2011, Russia’s Soyuz rocket became the only spacecraft capable of taking astronauts to the International Space Station.

With the advent of SpaceX’s Dragon capsule, Russia is facing a huge shrinking revenue. A seat on the Soyuz cost NASA about 80 million US dollars (about 5.8 billion rupees).
