Independent specialist credit and political risk broker Texel Group has announced the appointment of Rhys Davies as newly created head of restructuring.
This new appointment will establish a center of excellence designed to enhance Texel’s customer service.
In his new role, Davis will work with the brokerage team and claims team, led by Jerry Kohler, to provide end-to-end support to clients across a variety of credit and political risk scenarios, specifically providing expert advice on policy management during debt restructurings.
He will report to General Counsel and Board Director Carol Searle, who commented: “Rhys is an excellent addition to Texel and we are delighted to welcome him to the group. His professional skillset brings valuable expertise to our clients and will enhance the service and products we offer to our clients, ensuring we continue to set the standard for our industry.”
Davies is a qualified solicitor who joins Texel from AXA XL where he was Claims Manager in the Political Risk, Credit and Bonds and Crisis Management divisions.
Prior to that, he was a partner in the Financial and Political Risk Group in the London office of global law firm Kennedy LLP, with a particular focus on credit and political risk and the war, terror and political violence insurance market.
The executive was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2010 and has extensive experience in all forms of dispute resolution including litigation, arbitration and mediation.
His practice spans multiple jurisdictions, covering potential risks in the UK, Latin America, North America, EMEA and Asia. In addition, he has provided consultation on policy wording reviews.
