McLaren and Tezos team up to build an NFT platform

The non-fungible token (NFT) economy has exploded, and world-renowned automakers and racing teams are joining this initiative. This week, German automaker Porsche revealed that it will launch an NFT card asset called “Fanzone”. Now, the McLaren team announced that it will establish a multi-year technical partnership with Tezos, which also focuses on the NFT field.

The racing team at the McLaren Technology Center in Woking, Surrey, England, explained that Tezos and McLaren will innovate in the NFT industry. “Tezos and McLaren Racing have jointly created a unique fan-centric NFT platform, which is an innovative step in an exciting and fast-growing industry,” said Lindsey Eckhouse, director of licensing, e-commerce and e-sports at McLaren Racing.

According to Wikipedia, McLaren is the second oldest active team and the second most successful Formula One team after Ferrari.

Tezos will also assist the McLaren Racing demonstration as a partner of the McLaren Shadow e-sports team. The partnership will enable the Tezos brand to be showcased in the Arrow McLaren SP team and McLaren Formula One.

“At McLaren, we are known for putting fans at the core of everything we do. This is another partnership that allows us to enter a space where fans can own a key part of our team,” Eck House added.

Since F1’s Red Bull Racing Honda team signed an NFT agreement with Tezos last month, this is not the first encounter between Tezos and a Formula One car. The cooperation announcement stated that Tezos will help Red Bull Racing produce irreplaceable tokens.
