Swiss Re has appointed Dean Galligan as head of trading for the Life & Health Re (L&H Re) business unit, effective August 1, 2026.
Prior to joining Swiss Re, he served as Chief Capital Officer at Phoenix Group and was a member of the FTSE 100 Group Executive Committee.
In a newly created role based in London, Galligan will be responsible for uniting L&H Re’s global teams involved in structuring complex capital and balance sheet solutions and longevity reinsurance transactions.

Prior to joining Phoenix Group, Galligan served as global head of cross-asset structuring and solutions at Barclays Investment Bank, where he led complex trade execution for institutional clients, including insurance companies.
Previously, he spent more than 15 years at Goldman Sachs, where he held a range of senior leadership roles advising re/insurers on capital optimization, risk transfer and structured finance.
