Starr Companies announces senior claims leadership appointments

Starr Corporation, an insurance and investment organization that provides property, casualty and professional insurance globally, announced changes to its senior claims leadership team.

David Fitzgerald has been appointed Claims Chairman. In this role, he will continue to provide strategic guidance and oversight to the department. Fitzgerald has led the company’s claims business for the past eight years, serving as global chief claims officer since 2017. Based in New York, he has more than thirty years of industry experience.

Prior to joining Starr, Fitzgerald spent 25 years at AIG, where he held a variety of senior leadership roles, including chief claims officer for U.S. liabilities and global claims officer for principal liability.

His background includes overseeing integrated primary claims organizations across workers’ compensation, auto liability and general liability, as well as managing high-profile specialty claims portfolios.

Conor Murray has joined Starr as global chief claims officer, assuming overall executive responsibility for the company’s global claims organization. He will be based in the organization’s New York office.

Murray has more than 20 years of experience in risk management and claims leadership at major insurance companies. His background spans multiple practice areas, particularly marine and specialty claims.

Prior to joining Starr, he served as chief claims officer for AIG North America. He also held senior leadership roles at AXA XL and Glatfelter Insurance Group, where he oversaw the Specialty, Global and Claims Management businesses.
