Global property, casualty, specialty insurance and reinsurance provider Sompo has appointed Christian Silies as President of European Reinsurance.
Silies has over twenty years of industry experience, with expertise spanning the professional, marine and energy sectors.
He joined Sompo in March 2022 as global head of marine and energy, most recently as president of the Zurich branch and global head of specialty reinsurance.
Prior to joining Sompo, Silies served as head of marine, energy and composites at Aon for more than three years.
Prior to this, he spent 14 years at Hannover Re in a variety of roles, including senior marine underwriter and most recently general manager, maritime and energy treaties.
