Samsung will showcase four projects of its internal incubation program C-Lab Inside at CES 2021, as well as 17 startups supported by its startup acceleration program C-Lab Outside. The C-LabInside project includes a portable oxygen storage device called Air Pocket IoT device, which can classify fabrics and recommend care options, called Scan&Dive; a service called Food&Sommelier, which can match food and wine to a meal; and another Automatically calibrate TV image quality application: EZCal.
The South Korean tech giant announced the C-Lab Inside project and the startups under C-Lab Outside, which will be showcased at CES 2021 from January 11 to January 14. The project selected by Samsung reflects that, according to Samsung, “full-time at home” is a new normal, which focuses on personalized products and services that meet various lifestyles.
The C-Lab Outside startups that Samsung will show to it include Magpie Tech, which has been developing a growth management device called “kiko” (smart height and weight scale) for children. Bitbyte brings a keyboard theme service that makes characters react to input text, and Designovel has built an AI-driven fashion design tool.
C-Lab Outside was created in October 2018. It is a startup acceleration program that can provide office workspaces, guidance from Samsung employees, financial support, etc., to provide more services to registered startups.
Other C-Lab Outside innovations that will be showcased at CES 2021 include a real avatar creation tool made by Flux Planet through 3D scanning and VR/AR, AI-based personal information anonymization provided by Deeping Source, and data-recordable digital The note-taking service uses Flexcil’s gestures for easy PDF editing.
Other emerging C-Lab Outside companies worthy of attention include the online K-pop training service provided by Counter Culture Company, and Thingsflow’s conversational chatbot based on fortune-telling and psychological care roles.
Three startup companies from C-Lab Inside were selected by CTA (Consumer Technology Association) as CES 2021 innovation winners in the field of health and wellness. The winner is Luple, which has developed portable and artificial sunlight devices; Breath, an IoT device manufacturer that can easily manage respiratory health; and Linkface, which has a neckband device that can monitor biological signals related to breathing and heart .
