While Indian cricket teams will be excited about Dinesh Karthik’s form as he returns in the ongoing T20 International series against South Africa, Rishabh Pant’s form will be their concern. India are without senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the series against South Africa, while KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav are out with injuries. Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik also appear to have cemented their place in the squad with their performances as the four players will be in India’s XI when they travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup in October-November.
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer believes it will be difficult for Pant, who captained India in the series against South Africa, to secure a place in the competition when India has all the available players.
“I think if you choose the next T20 team then DK will definitely stay in the XI. KL Rahul will come back when he is fit, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, I think those 3-4 guys will go So, I think Rishabh Pant is going to find it hard to get a place in that XI,” Jaffer said on ESPNcricinfo.
“I think DK has overlapped with Rishabh Pant at least for now. I can’t speak for the future, but at the moment you can always choose DK in front of Rishabh Pant,” he said.

After starting the series with 29 quick hits on 16 shots, Pant’s form began to decline, and he could only score 5, 6 and 17 points over the next three games.
India and South Africa will now face off in their fifth and final T20I match in Bengaluru on Sunday. The game will be the tiebreaker, and the series is 2-2.
