International insurer and reinsurer QBE has announced the promotion of Scott Pidduck to the newly created position of General Manager, Canada, effective April 1, 2026.
The general manager position replaces the Canadian director position that previously led Canadian operations.
Based in Toronto, Pidduck will report to Kevin Shallow, executive director of international markets at QBE Insurance, and will focus on driving organic growth across the country.
Pidduck has been with QBE for nearly 14 years, joining in 2012 as a professional liability and cyber underwriter. He was subsequently promoted to Financial Lines and Networks Underwriting Manager and, since 2018, Director of Canadian Underwriting.
Earlier in his career, he served as senior professional liability underwriter at Ace Insurance (Chubb).
Shallow said: “QBE Canada has always been focused on long-term, sustainable growth. Scott’s track record as director of underwriting is outstanding in this regard, demonstrating that he is the right person to take on a larger leadership role for the country. Scott has built strong relationships with QBE’s clients, brokers and colleagues over the past 13 years. Those who work with him appreciate his underwriting expertise and people skills. These are exciting times for QBE Canada.”
Pidduck added, “We have strategic growth plans for this year and the years to come. We have made great strides to become a leading cyber insurance company, we recently announced a doubling of our property and casualty insurance capacity, and our property and casualty package products have been and will continue to be a huge area of planned growth. We also have several new products in the pipeline that I can’t wait to tell you more about. I’m excited to lead QBE Canada’s next phase of growth.”
