Due to the months-long ban, PUBG Mobile has returned to the country’s new role “Battlegrounds Mobile India”. Although Krafton claims that this new game aims to address concerns about its original version, it is actually not new-this is what Chinese audiences have always had. The emergence of Battlegrounds Mobile India is more like a fine-tuned version of PUBG Mobile, with only a few (unnecessary) differences. And there are no India-specific changes here, those three-color posters are downgraded to marketing trailers.
This week, host Akhil Arora talked about Battlegrounds Mobile India with Cyrus John, deputy video director of Battlegrounds Mobile India, and deputy news editor Veer Arjun Singh, one of the team’s most experienced PUBG Mobile players, on the Advertisement Shout podcast track.
Battlegrounds Mobile India is currently available for early access to Android users. The game publisher Krafton claimed that the Battle Royale game had been downloaded more than 5 million times a few hours after its release. But the initial success of this game was not smooth.
A few weeks before the official launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India, Arunachal Pradesh legislator Ninon Allin urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban the game. The government did not publicly respond to Irene.
Soon after the launch, the Indian incarnation of PUBG Mobile was discovered sending data to servers abroad, even in China. However, this data sharing issue was resolved in the online report. This is interesting because the alleged relationship with China was one of the concerns that led to the ban of the original title in September last year. The trader group All India Traders Association (CAIT) also requested that the new game be banned on the grounds that the game sends user data abroad.
Battlegrounds Mobile India First Impression: Similarities and Differences of PUBG Mobile
The gameplay of Battlegrounds Mobile India is essentially the same as PUBG Mobile. These changes are only due to the transplantation of the Chinese version. For example, the gore and violent effects have been removed because the Chinese government does not allow them to be used in its games. Even the traditional red blood animation has been replaced by green leaves. Yes, leaves.
Krafton allows existing PUBG Mobile users to move their original saved game data to Battlegrounds Mobile India. However, it is important to point out that when you transfer to a new game, friends who are competing with you on PUBG Mobile are not automatically added-the friend list is lost during the conversion process.
The fact that further hurts the community is that many PUBG Mobile players have turned to PUBG Mobile alternatives such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Garena Free Fire within a few months of being banned. Considering that they have established their own communities on these other games, these people are unlikely to easily transfer to Battlegrounds Mobile India.
India’s PUBG ban: the desire of young Indians presses the pause button
Krafton has not provided any details on when it will launch Battlegrounds Mobile India in beta or on the iPhone. However, the gaming community does have some information. You can check it out in our discussion.
