Specialist insurance and reinsurance broker Price Forbes has launched a new construction product in South Africa and appointed Alvin Dye, Paul Jacobs and Kagiso Sephiphi to the newly formed team.
Price Forbes appoints Alvin Dye as head of construction. In this role, he will report to Price Forbes South Africa Chairman Kenny Thorpe and will be responsible for growing the construction practice and developing products for African and global clients.
Dye has nearly three decades of industry experience and has held senior roles at major brokerages, including head of construction at Willis SA and regional business director at Marsh.
Paul Jacobs has been appointed Account Executive, responsible for developing local and international business within the architectural practice and supporting the development of Price Forbes’ professional capabilities in South Africa.
He has over 40 years’ experience in the construction and engineering markets, including with firms such as Willis, Marsh and Alex Forbes.
Kagiso Sephiphi joins as a Junior Account Manager, focusing on technology brokerage within the construction practice, with a view to expanding into renewable energy as the team grows.
He has ten years of experience in construction insurance, having worked as a broker with Marsh South Africa, where he developed deep expertise in risk management solutions for complex construction projects. Most recently, he worked at WTW as a construction insurance specialist.
The appointments are part of a joint venture with Price Forbes’ London construction team, which is structured around three focus areas: retail services for Africa-focused clients across the continent; outbound wholesale placements, where the South African team works with London to access global markets; and countercurrent placements, where international construction clients in London with African project exposure can be supported locally by the South African team.
Thorpe commented: “We are delighted to launch this new offering and I am confident that Alvin and his team can deliver excellent results. Combining local capabilities with the strength of our London partnership puts us in a strong position to serve clients across the continent and beyond.”
Dye added: “This is an exciting time for Price Forbes South Africa. We have assembled a team with deep expertise and a clear vision of what we want to build. There is real interest and I look forward to seeing how we grow.”
