CoWIN appointments through third-party apps are now allowed to get COVID-19 vaccination spots. Paytm and Eka.care are among the first platforms to provide new experiences. To make an appointment, you only need to use the Paytm or Eka Care app on your smartphone instead of going through the self-registration portal. Earlier, apps were allowed to share vaccine availability status, but the only way to get an appointment was through the Aarogya Setu or Umang apps, or by visiting the CoWIN self-registration portal.

The government notified a change that allows third-party apps to book vaccination spots last month, but it places some restrictions on who can provide such facilities. At this time, Paytm or Eka Care apps do not allow users to find their relevant centers and book COVID-19 vaccination spots for themselves and their families.

How to book CoWIN appointments via Paytm app

You can access the Vaccine Finder through the Paytm app to book CoWIN for COVID-19 vaccine. The Vaccine Finder service has been part of the Paytm application since May and is available on the main screen of the application. You can also find the service using the search bar on the Paytm app.

“We are working hard to help India get out of this pandemic more powerfully. Our vaccine finder will help citizens seamlessly book locations and get vaccinated at the nearest center,” a Paytm spokesperson said in a mailed statement.

After accessing the Vaccine Finder option on Paytm, you must provide your PIN and age group. There is also a section to find slots based on your status.

After selecting the details of your region and age group, you need to choose whether you want to book a time slot for the first or second dose. Then, you can click the “Book Now” button. This will take you to a screen where you can select the center you want to vaccinate, then you will be asked to enter your phone number and you will get a one-time password (OTP) from CoWIN.

The Paytm app allows you to book COVID-19 vaccines through the vaccine finder

Vaccine Finder on Paytm also allows you to choose from available free and paid centers and specific centers that specifically provide Covishield vaccine.

After confirming your booking, the Paytm app will provide you with an appointment form, which you can present at the preferred center to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Both the Paytm app on Android and iOS can book COVID-19 vaccination spots. Make sure you have the latest version installed on your device for seamless booking.

How to book CoWIN through the Eka Care app

You can also book CoWIN for COVID-19 vaccine through the Eka Care app. You can download the app on your Android or iOS device. After downloading, you can book a vaccination spot through the check vaccination availability card provided on the main screen of the app. You need to register with your phone number to book your slot machine.

The Eka Care app, like Paytm, will show you relevant centers based on dosage, vaccine type, age, and cost type. After booking, it will show the appointment form that you need to present at the time of vaccination.

Last month, the government updated the CoWIN API usage guidelines to allow booking of COVID-19 vaccine slots through third-party apps as well as existing Aarogya Setu and Umang apps and the CoWIN portal. Paytm, MakeMyTrip, and Infosys were among the early companies that cooperated with the government to order vaccines through their platforms.
