Munich Re appoints Paolo Ghirri as CEO of Munich Re Italy, effective January 1, 2026.
Ghirri has been with Munich Re Italy for more than 35 years, and his career has been marked by continued growth and increasing responsibilities, including key positions outside the company.
Effective February 1, 2026, the role of Deputy CEO and Head of Account Management previously held by Ghirri will be taken over by Roberta Urban.
Urban currently serves as Head of European Strategy and Development for Munich Re Specialty Global Markets in London.
Munich Re explained that Gharri and Urban previously collaborated for two decades in Milan, characterized by a common career path based on a shared vision and ongoing synergy.
The company added that Italy is one of the most important markets in Europe and the Milan team leverages solid local expertise and in-depth understanding of the Italian insurance market to provide reinsurance solutions to its partners and clients.
