The new generation Mahindra Scorpio (codenamed Z101) has been unabashedly spotted from multiple angles ahead of launch.
The old logo seen on the front grille could mean this could be a pre-production model.
Mahindra has been teasing its upcoming SUV for the past few weeks as it gets closer to launch. Codenamed Z101, Mahindra has yet to officially confirm that the SUV is the new Mahindra Scorpio, but the SUV is an evolution of the outgoing Scorpio, with the latest spy shots revealing the design of the ‘SUV big daddy’ Mahindra teased.

While the teaser video shows the new Scorpio wearing the company’s new logo and debuting on the XUV700, the latest spy shots show the car with the old logo, suggesting that this may indeed be a pre-production model rather than a finished product. As seen in the teaser video, The car features LED dual-cabin projector headlamps, LED fog lamps and the signature Mahindra front grille with vertical chrome inserts. A lot of chrome is also used on the sides of the SUV, with chrome inserts on the door handles and chrome on the door cladding. The SUV also features 10-spoke alloy wheels, and disc brakes on all 4 corners.

The rear of the car features a similar chrome finish, with chrome inserts on the door handles and bumper. There’s an additional chrome element to the width of the diffuser and the chin of the tailgate. The SUV also gets new LED taillight units, which have a similar profile to those of the previous-generation Scorpio, but with significant design changes.

The SUV will also feature a premium and tech-heavy interior and may feature Level 2 ADAS functionality, which would be a first of its kind. It will come with 2 engine options, a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine producing 150 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that will produce 130 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, and the SUV is expected to feature mild-hybrid technology for improved fuel efficiency.
