Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA), a unit of global insurance and reinsurance brokerage Marsh McLennan, has acquired three privately held insurance brokerage companies in Honolulu, Hawaii, from Hawaii-based diversified investment firm Tradewind Group.
These brokerage firms include Atlas Insurance Agency (Atlas), Pyramid Insurance Center (Pyramid) and IC International (IC), which together have established the state’s leading insurance brokerage operations.
They provide insurance solutions to businesses and individuals throughout Hawaii, as well as specialized services in niche industries, including municipal, transportation and hospitality industries.
Employees from all three companies will join MMA and continue to operate out of their existing locations.
“Atlas, Pyramid and IC have long been trusted partners in the Hawaii community, known for their commitment to their clients, colleagues and the islands they serve,” said Chris Williams, president and CEO of MMA’s Western Region.
“We recognize that the Hawaii business community is built on relationships and respect. This transaction represents a long-term investment in a market with strong fundamentals, diverse industries and a resilient economy. With our resources and network, coupled with the brokerage’s local insights, we see meaningful opportunities to expand services to clients across the island.”
Atlas President Chason Ishii commented, “This transformation is a thoughtful strategic decision that will ultimately provide our customers with expanded insurance solutions and new growth opportunities for our team.” Pyramid President Scott Higashi added, “MMA’s strong respect for our local expertise and community connections, coupled with their access to global resources, will enhance our team’s ability to meet the ever-changing needs of families and businesses that make us who we are.”
Tradewind Group CEO Rob Nobriga added, “Separating our brokerage and carrier operations gives both parties the freedom to grow and better serve Hawaii, while allowing us to invest more deeply in local talent, businesses and real estate projects where we can have the greatest impact. As we explored options for a new home for our brokerage, we carefully selected an organization that is committed to stability and has a strong focus on the Hawaii community. By maintaining local presence and relationships, we look forward to the continued positive impact these teams will have as MMA part of the achievement.”
