Markel, the insurance arm of Markel Group, announced a new partnership with Upfort to enhance cybersecurity resources for eligible U.S. cyber insurance policyholders.
Through this partnership, policyholders now have access to Upfort Shield, a multi-layered cyber defense platform that provides AI-driven automated protection against common cyber threats.
In addition, eligible customers can implement an endpoint detection and response (EDR) solution with behavioral analytics designed to reduce the risk of security breaches. Service availability and pricing may vary by policy.
“Markel’s relationship with Upfort helps strengthen our 360-degree approach to cyber insurance protection and ensures we serve our clients before, during and after a cyber incident,” commented Paul Melone, Executive Underwriting Officer, Professional Liability at Markel. “Giving businesses the tools to help them predict, prevent and recover from threats enables them to remain resilient and confident in an increasingly complex digital environment.”
“This partnership is consistent with Markel’s long-term network strategy to provide innovative insurance solutions to middle-market businesses,” added Raphael Da Costa, Markel’s senior director of U.S. network and technology. “It allows us to expand our appetite, help our policyholders strengthen their risk protection, and provide customized cyber insurance as the market continues to mature.”
Upfort provides enterprises with a range of cybersecurity solutions, including employee training, endpoint detection and response (EDR), email protection, and continuous monitoring. These tools are designed to support organizations in improving security measures while maintaining a focus on day-to-day operations and growth.
“By deploying the full Upfort Shield platform, Markel is adopting a proven cybersecurity solution with a multi-year track record of significantly reducing claims frequency,” said Josh Riley, co-founder of Upfort. “This partnership can deliver market-leading value to policyholders to help protect against cyberattacks, while also providing Markel with the actionable intelligence needed to lead the next era of data-driven underwriting.”
