Lionsgate won the “Silk Road” movie premiered in February

The “Silk Road” movie has been acquired by Lionsgate and will soon be released in the United States. The film features Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road Market, and the events that led to his arrest.

The Silk Road movie is coming soon

Lionsgate said that the upcoming feature film called “Silk Road” will be released in the United States in February, and the company announced on Monday that it has acquired the film.

The American Canadian entertainment company plans to broadcast movies on digital TV and video-on-demand in American theaters on February 19. Then it will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on February 23.

The film “Silk Road” is adapted from David Kushner’s Rolling Stone magazine “The Dead End of the Silk Road”. The film was written for the screen and directed by Tiller Russell. IMDB describes the plot of the film as:

The philosopher Ross Ulbricht in his twenties founded the “Silk Road” (Silk Road), a dark web site that sells drugs, and DEA agent Rick Bowden ( Rick Bowden conducted a secret investigation and disappointed him.

Nick Robinson, who starred in “Jurassic World”, played Ulbricht in “Silk Road.” Jason Clarke played John Connor in “Terminator” Genesis (Gersys), portraying the DEA agent. Alexandra Shipp and Jimmi Simpson, Katie Aselton, Lexi Rabe, Darryl Britt · Gibson (Darrell Britt-Gibson), Daniel Stewart (Daniel Stewart) and Paul Walter Hauser (Paul Walter Hauser) starred together, known for her role as the super heroine Storm in the X-Men movies.

The filming of the Silk Road film began in June last year. It was originally scheduled to have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, but the film festival was postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Silk Road is not Lionsgate’s first crypto-related film. Last April, the company released the movie “Crypto”, starring Beau Knapp, Alexis Bledel, Luke Hemsworth and Kurt Russell.

Recently, the U.S. government revealed that it has seized bitcoins currently worth more than $1 billion from previously undiscovered transactions related to the Silk Road market.
