Liberty Mutual’s reinsurance division (LM Re) has appointed John Nicholls as casualty underwriting manager for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).
Nicholls joins LM Re from Liberty Specialty Markets’ Sydney office via an internal move, reflecting the organization’s integrated operating model across its global operations.
The appointment highlights LM Re’s focus on the Australian and New Zealand markets. Strengthening local underwriting leadership and expertise remains central to the company’s strategy to enhance capabilities and support sustainable growth across the region.
In his new role, Nicholls will lead the ANZ casualty portfolio and oversee the delivery of LM Re’s casualty products to brokers and clients. His role is consistent with the company’s objective of maintaining strong local underwriting expertise in key international reinsurance markets.
Nicholls brings over 18 years of casualty underwriting experience and over 30 years of broader industry experience. He has participated in a variety of complex technical internships, contributing significant technical knowledge and a deep understanding of the value of long-term broker and client relationships.
