Ledger Investing has launched Korra, an independent SaaS platform company designed to bring efficiency, transparency and intelligence to the casualty reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) markets.
Korra connects insurers, MGAs, reinsurers and institutional investors through an integrated suite of applications and AI-driven workflows, supporting the entire reinsurance lifecycle – from pricing and structuring to performance reporting and valuation.
Ledger has been developing the Korra technology stack internally since 2021. It has used the technology stack to structure, execute and service more than 170 casualty ILS transactions, with total written premiums exceeding $7 billion.
Korra is now bringing proven technology refined for real-world applications to the wider market as a standalone platform.
The Korra platform is a comprehensive technology stack organized into four key products, including: Korra Marketplace, which facilitates digital transactions by connecting risk and capital; Korra Analytics, which provides actuarial and data science capabilities to predict performance and estimate transaction value.
In addition, Korra Reports automatically extracts boundary data and visualizes financial statements and collateral calculations; Korra Contracts leverages artificial intelligence to convert complex contracts into structured data, enabling natural language querying and downstream automation.
“Korra is an end-to-end solution that addresses the pre- and post-trade needs of risk originators and capital providers,” said Umair Rasool, managing director at Korra. “Clients can start with applications that solve their biggest problems today, knowing that data created in one application is immediately available across the platform, reducing duplication of effort, reconciliation and manual switching between point solutions.”
“It can also connect to your existing non-Korra and legacy systems, so one decision unleashes network effects throughout the rest of your technology stack,” Rasool continued. “We created Korra because we needed it ourselves,” said Samir Shah, co-founder and CEO of Ledger Investing.
“We are on the front lines as brokers, risk modelers, asset managers and mortgage reinsurers handling complex casualty transactions at scale. This experience forced us to solve real operational, data and analytics problems. We iterated on the technology on a deal-by-deal basis.”
Following the launch of Korra, the Ledger group of companies was restructured to create two main operating divisions: SaaS platform Korra and reinsurance brokerage and advisory firm Ledger Investing.
