kWh Analytics boosts renewable energy coverage with renewed Aspen Specialty partnership

kWh Analytics, a provider of climate and risk management for renewable energy projects, has successfully renewed its agreement with Aspen Specialty to expand support for its renewable energy asset and project property insurance products.

As a result of this expanded partnership, kWh Analytics can now insure up to $100 million of eligible risks at each renewable energy project site.

The expansion gives them authority to underwrite construction and operating accounts in solar, battery storage and a handful of asset classes, broadening coverage to support the energy transition.

“This continued support is a strong demonstration of our confidence in our underwriting expertise and the growing commitment of our capacity partners,” said Jason Kaminsky, CEO of kWh Analytics. “The expansion of coverage to include renewable energy portfolios across a handful of asset classes reflects the reality that meeting growing power demand requires a diverse approach to clean power deployment.”

This successful agreement follows the company’s addition of excess natural catastrophe insurance in 2025.

This tier provides up to $20 million in additional capacity designed to respond to damage from severe convective storms and designated storms in non-coastal areas.

kWh Analytics’ underwriting strategies are fundamentally data-driven, leveraging cutting-edge models for real-time risk assessment. Projects that demonstrate a commitment to risk reduction through robust operating agreements and documented protections benefit from better terms in the primary and excess insurance layers.

“Aspen is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with a leader in advancing and rewarding risk mitigation for renewable energy assets,” said Jon Kattman, director of inland marine at Aspen Insurance. “As renewables rapidly scale, kWh Analytics’ innovative approach to accurately assessing and pricing risk is enabling the rapid deployment of resilient assets.”
