Global reinsurer Hannover Re has announced the appointment of Huang Kun as CEO of its Shanghai branch.
Mr Huang joins Hannover Re from Chaucer for six years, most recently as chief communications officer.
Prior to that, he served as Managing Director of China Re Agency Co., Ltd. and Director of Risk Management Department of China Re.
“Kun has more than 20 years of experience in the reinsurance and insurance industries. He holds a master’s degree in finance from Hunan University and is widely respected for his strategic insights, collaborative leadership and deep industry expertise,” Hannover Re said in a recent LinkedIn post.
“Congratulations, Kun – we wish you success in this exciting new chapter.”
Following Sun Yan’s appointment as head of life and health business in Greater China in November 2025, this appointment marks an important step in Hannover Re’s continued growth strategy in Asia.
