Global insurance and reinsurance brokerage group Aon has appointed Karl Hamann as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Philippines, effective April 1, 2026, subject to regulatory requirements.
From 2022, he serves as CEO Indonesia, implementing modernization initiatives, strengthening commercial execution and enhancing market connectivity.
Harman will relocate to Manila in the coming months and will continue to report to head of Southeast Asia Andrew Minnit.
He succeeds Darren Oliver, who will move to the newly appointed regional role of Head of Market Development for Health Solutions, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.
In his new role, Harman will focus on advancing Aon’s integrated solutions strategy and helping clients address interconnected risks. Additionally, he will work closely with regional solution line leaders to align priorities, deepen customer engagement and support continued growth.
Hamann has more than three decades of experience in Asia Pacific and global markets, with deep expertise in insurance, risk consulting and operational leadership. He has served as CEO in the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Singapore and South Asia.
Commenting on the appointment, Minnitt said: “Karl brings a rare combination of on-the-ground experience, commercial discipline and the ability to lead change with clarity. His familiarity with the Philippine market and his track record in the region make him ideally suited to steer the business forward. I am confident he will build on the strong momentum Darren has built in recent years, supporting our clients and colleagues as the market continues to evolve.”
He continued: “These leadership appointments reflect Aon’s continued investment in developing talent and strengthening the entire SEA alliance – creating more opportunities for our colleagues while ensuring we remain well-positioned in a rapidly changing environment to support the evolving needs of our clients.”
Harman said: “The Philippines has been an important part of my career and I am excited to re-engage in the market in a new capacity. Darren has laid a solid platform for the business and I am eager to work with the team to continue to strengthen support for customers and drive the next stage of growth.”
Earlier this month, Aon appointed Alexander Krasavin as regional managing director for Asia Pacific.
