Jorge Colomer named CEO of Mapfre Asset Management

International insurance company Mapfre has announced the appointment of Jorge Colomer as CEO of Mapfre Asset Management (Mapfre AM).

Mapfre AM is the asset management arm of Mapfre Group and has over 30 years of investment management experience. Mapfre AM is headquartered in Spain and manages over €40 billion in assets across Europe.

Colomer succeeds Álvaro Anguita, who has led the company since its founding more than 30 years ago. Under his leadership, the company initially focused on managing the group’s balance sheet and in recent years also delivered top-tier products to retail and institutional clients.

Colomer has over 25 years of experience in the financial sector, with expertise in investments, asset management and private banking. He has held various senior positions in national and international institutions.

Prior to joining Mapfre, he served as Chief Investment Officer at CaixaBank Asset Management.

Mapfre said that with this appointment, it reaffirms its commitment to building a strong and distinctive presence in the financial sector, promoting investment product innovation, promoting sustainability and delivering increasingly client-centric services.

Juan Bernal, chief investment officer of Mapfre Group, said: “The addition of Jorge Colomer will significantly strengthen our position in the asset management industry.”
