Insurance Advisory Partners (IAP), a boutique investment banking firm focused on the insurance sector, has appointed Lou Caltavuturo as a US partner, based in New York, reporting to co-founder and CEO Tony Ursano.
Caltavuturo is an experienced investment banker who will focus on brokerage and insurance distribution mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financings.
Over the course of his career, Caltavuturo has completed hundreds of mergers, acquisitions, financings and lending transactions for insurance clients nationwide.
Ursano commented on the appointment: “Lou brings to IAP a wealth of experience and expertise in insurance and underwriting services, mergers and acquisitions and financing. Consistent with IAP’s approach and unique culture, Lou is focused on building long-term relationships and always putting client interests first.
“Lou also shares our relentless focus on delivering amazing client experiences through advice that results in exceptional client outcomes. I’m very excited to welcome him to the team.”
Most recently he served as Managing Director at Sica Fletcher. Prior to that, he served as president of Vantage Insurance Partners, a private equity-backed insurance broker-investor he co-founded in 2020.
Previously, Caltavuturo spent 15 years at Dowling Hales, where as a partner and managing director he primarily represented brokers in sell-side transactions.
Finally, he held senior positions at Fox-Pitt, Kelton, where he was responsible for more than $10 billion in M&A and equity transactions, and Deutsche Bank, where he served as a commercial lender in the insurance industry.
IAP Chairman Joe Plumeri said: “When you combine Lou’s track record in insurance distribution with IAP’s deep experience and expertise in this area, IAP will become the go-to advisor in this segment.
“We look forward to working closely with Mr. Lou to significantly expand our insurance brokerage and distribution advisory business.”
Caltavuturo added: “I am delighted to be joining Insurance Advisory Partners at such an exciting stage in its development. I have long admired Tony’s vision to build a world-class advisory firm with unparalleled industry expertise.
“I look forward to working closely with the teams in New York and London to enhance the already outstanding customer experience that is at the heart of IAP’s value proposition.”
