Instagram Live Rooms has introduced a new feature where the host will be able to mute their audio just like in a Zoom or Google Meet call.

According to Mashable, Instagram Live users will also be able to turn off videos to chat, with a new feature similar to the popular audio-based app Clubhouse.

In March, the photo-sharing platform Instagram launched Live Rooms, which allows users to chat with three people at a time in a Live session, rather than just chat with one person.

In an interview, Instagram said: “By providing people with the option to mute or turn off the video, the host will add flexibility to their live broadcast experience, because the added features can help reduce the need to watch or make sounds in a certain way during the live broadcast. Stress.” The statement has been emailed to Mashable.

The company added that Live provides creators with a “quick and easy way to connect with the community and audience, and have real back and forth conversations.”

Mashable reports that the company is not the first to follow Clubhouse Audio’s footsteps. Clubhouse is an audio-based social media application that allows users to jump into and out of chat history on various topics with the same operation. It’s like listening to a live podcast recording.

As Mashable reported in March, Facebook, which owns Instagram, is implementing a real-time audio feature for its Messenger Room. According to reports, Reddit is also exploring a similar voice chat function.
