Rohit Sharma is part of the team that will take on Leicester in a four-day tour ahead of the decisive Test match against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 1. Rohit batted in the first innings on Thursday but did not appear to bat in India’s second innings on Saturday. In the first inning of the warm-up, he ran for 25 points.
India lead 2-1 in the Test series against England. Rohit led India to a 2-0 victory over Sri Lanka earlier this year. If he recovers in time for the Edgbaston game, it will be his first Test away as India captain.
Virat Kohli’s India led England 2-1 last year but the fifth and final test had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak in the Indian camp. The BCCI and the ECB have decided to reschedule the remainder of the year’s Test matches.
Apart from the Test matches, India will play three T20Is and three ODIs on the tour.
