ICEYE partners with Munich Re unit to expand access to nat cat intelligence

ICEYE, the global leader in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite data and natural disaster solutions, has entered into a new global strategic partnership with Munich Re Risk Management Partners, which will leverage the group’s reinsurance expertise to deliver advanced climate risk insights through its location risk intelligence platform.

Through this partnership, ICEYE’s flood solutions will be integrated into the location risk intelligence platform, enhancing its real-time flood risk analysis and reporting capabilities before, during and after an event.

From January 2026, ICEYE’s flood archives and flood warning solutions will also be accessible through the platform’s events functionality.

“Access to ICEYE’s cutting-edge data through a market-leading risk management platform enables insurance companies, banks, real estate managers and businesses around the world to better assess and quantify flood impacts and support faster data-driven decision-making,” the company explains.

ICEYE continued: “The events feature enables users to monitor historical and ongoing events using a combination of public domain information and vendor data.

“ICEYE will be the first commercial provider to deliver precise event data to Munich Re’s platform, giving customers immediate access to severity predictions and reliable, fast measurements of flood damage extent and depth.

“Other ICEYE products – including Flood Insight, Flood Rapid Impact, Hurricane Rapid Impact and Wildfire Insight – will be resold by Munich Re to customers globally.”

Sielker, Head of Re/Insurance at ICEYE, commented: “At ICEYE, innovation is at the core of what we do. Integrating our flood intelligence into Munich Re’s powerful analytics platform, Location Risk Intelligence, represents a huge step forward in how cutting-edge data and technology can be combined to enable insurers and businesses to better understand and manage the rapidly changing flood risk landscape.”

Christof Reinert, Head of Risk Management Partners at Munich Re, said: “Natural disasters are becoming more frequent and severe. Businesses need scalable solutions to manage these risks before, during and after catastrophic events.

“By integrating ICEYE into the platform, we can provide more comprehensive insights into exposure to natural risk hazards. Flood event data is an important feature and can even improve our location risk intelligence products.

“This provides our clients with a decisive advantage, enabling proactive risk management to safeguard investments and operations while also increasing resilience.”

In related news, ICEYE launched five new SAR satellites on November 28, 2025, on the Transporter-15 ride-sharing mission with SpaceX from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA.

With these additions, ICEYE has launched a total of 62 satellites for itself and its customers since 2018, including 22 so far in 2025.

The company also recently secured €150 million in new financing and a €50 million secondary placement, led by General Catalyst with broad pan-European participation, valuing the company at €2.4 billion ($2.8 billion).
