Global insurance and reinsurance brokerage group Howden has announced the launch of its American Airlines business, led by Julio Jimenez.

Rapidly changing geopolitical conditions pose increasingly complex and rapidly changing risks to U.S. air operators. For domestic and international operators, the risk environment has never been more severe. At the same time, widespread broker consolidation has deprived aviation clients of the specialized technical services they need for their risk exposures.

To this end, Howden’s US Aviation business is designed to address these challenges, combining technical expertise with strong service to customers.

The business will provide comprehensive risk management services and insurance placement to a broad range of customers across the aviation ecosystem.

It will serve commercial airlines, fixed base operators (FBOs), charter operators, aircraft and parts manufacturers, military contractors, public entities and aerospace companies.

Julio Jimenez is the Aviation Practice Leader, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in the aviation sector. He joins Howden after eight years at USI Insurance Services, most recently as Partner | Vice President, Risk Management Consultant.

Jimenez said: “Airlines are being squeezed from two directions at once. The geopolitical environment is creating real, immediate swings in risk profiles and insurance demand. At the same time, this extremely complex, dynamic and exposed industry remains under-invested and underserved by the insurance industry. These two forces underpin the need for a team with unparalleled aviation expertise that can design and deliver for the unique needs of aviation customers, which is the team we have established today.”

Howden Americas CEO Mike Parrish added: “Julio and the team have built their careers at the highest levels of the industry. In a market facing such extreme volatility, this is critical. Bringing them onto our platform means aviation customers have access to global capabilities, expertise and a continued focus on what they really need.”
