Insurance intermediary group Howden has announced that Clive Strickland has joined the company to establish and lead its new dedicated space insurance business.

An industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience in the field, Strickland brings deep market relationships and expertise to Howden with a proven track record of success in building and growing space teams in previous roles.

With this strategic move, Howden has significantly enhanced its ability to support customers in the rapidly expanding space sector, enabling it to provide end-to-end insurance for space-related risks, covering everything from satellite launch to continued on-orbit operations, the company said.

This development is critical given the value of the market, which Howden estimates is around $600 million in global annual premiums, with annual growth expected to be around 9% this decade.

Jason Humphreys, managing director and global practice leader of Howden Aerospace, commented: “Clive’s appointment reflects Howden’s commitment to building world-class aerospace capabilities.

“His knowledge, drive and leadership will not only help us deliver exceptional solutions to our clients, but also develop the next generation of space insurance experts within Howden.”
