Hamilton Insurance Group, a Bermuda-based underwriting and insurance platform focused on specialty insurance and reinsurance, has established a reinsurance sidecar to support the capabilities of its casualty reinsurance portfolio.
The structure is expected to operate for many years, with total ceded premiums estimated to be approximately $300 million over its lifetime. Sidecar’s investment capital and asset management responsibilities will be provided by global investment firm Sixth Street.
To develop its third-party capital capabilities, Hamilton has promoted Tristan Latarche to senior vice president of Hamilton ILS, effective April 1, 2026.
Reporting to Tim Duffin, group chief underwriting officer, he will be responsible for advancing the company’s third-party capital program as the platform expands.
Latarche joins Hamilton in September 2024 as vice president and portfolio manager, having previously held underwriting and actuarial roles at Hiscox Re in London. He is a member of the Institute of Actuaries.
Sidecar will be powered through Hamilton’s existing third-party capital platform, Ada Re, Ltd. Ada Re contributes to the group’s fee income and provides mortgage property catastrophe reinsurance and retrocession insurance. Its products are designed to complement the property reinsurance portfolio underwritten by Hamilton Re in Bermuda.
Aon Securities LLC served as structuring and placement agent for the transaction. Hamilton’s legal advisors include Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited.
“We are very pleased to announce that we have successfully established our first casualty reinsurance sidecar,” Duffin added. “This sidecar enhances our ability to support casualty reinsurance underwriting with a scalable and efficient capital solution, supporting our disciplined growth strategy and providing Hamilton with an additional fee revenue stream.”
“Tristan’s promotion further strengthens our leadership position as we continue to develop our third-party capital capabilities over the long term.”
