Google Chat is updating its current set of emoji to the latest version. The updated emoji set aims to increase the diversity and inclusiveness of communication through emoticons. The update was gradually rolled out to Android devices starting on August 2. In the next few weeks, the update will be available to Google Chat for Web and iOS. Earlier today, Google announced the launch of Tensor, its custom SoC will power the upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones.
The emoji set in Google Chat has been updated to Emoji 13.1. Google stated in the Workspace Updates blog that the collection focused on diversity and inclusivity adds a gender-neutral option to gender-modifiable emojis. You can also save emoji skin color and gender preferences for reference for each emoji.
This feature will be gradually rolled out on Android on August 2, and it may take up to 15 days for the feature to cover all devices. The emoji set is available to Google Workspace customers as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers. The technology giant said the feature will be available on Google Chat for Web and iOS in the next few weeks.
Earlier today, on August 3, Google launched a custom processor Tensor designed internally by the company. Tensor will power Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones, although the upcoming Pixel 5a models will still be equipped with Qualcomm processors. The launch of Tensor will mark the company’s transformation from Qualcomm’s technology, which has provided support for the search giant’s Android devices for more than 15 years.
