Fortnite developer Epic announced the upcoming “next generation version” of the game for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. Epic said that it has developed new native versions for these three consoles, not just the adjusted version of the previous generation. Fortnite players will be able to move on, and the next version will be downloaded from the first day, the first week, when the new console starts. In addition, Epic will provide Throwback Ax Pickaxe for free to all players from November 4th.

Epic posted on its website, and the developers have prepared the next version of Fortnite for the upcoming next-generation consoles (including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S).

The updated version will be downloaded from the first day. This is a new native version for the console to take advantage of the features of the new system, not just the adjusted version of the previous generation. PlayStation 5 will be released on November 12, and Xbox series consoles will be released on November 10.

From day one, players can play Fortnite at 4K 60fps on PlayStation 5 and experience dynamic visual effects, including vegetation that responds to explosions, new storm and cloud effects, and enhanced smoke and liquid fluid simulations . In addition, PS5 players will be able to select the game mode directly from the main screen, namely Solo, Duos or Squads. Epic also considered the new and improved haptics of the PS5’s DualSense controller. The brand new Fortnite brings tactile trigger feedback of remote weapons on the DualSense controller, and different vibrations of different guns.

Fortnite on Xbox Series X will also run at 4K 60fps, and players will experience the same dynamic visual effects as PS5. Xbox Series S is a simplified version of Series X. It will run games at 1080p 60fps and will support most of the visual improvements, which will be available on the other two more powerful consoles.

On all three consoles, loading time has been reduced, allowing players to enter the game faster. Texture loading time has also been improved. Split screens on Xbox Series X, Series S and PS5 now support 60fps.

In addition, the developer explained that players who have played Fortnite on the current previous generation console will be able to use all the cosmetics to move on on the next generation console. Players need to download the Xbox Series X and Series S versions of the game. PS5 users only need to download Fortnite from the PlayStation Store and log in with their Epic or PlayStation Network account.

Finally, Epic also provides the Throwback Ax Pickaxe of Chapter 1 to all players for free starting from November 4th, and it will open on January 15th next year.
