The company announced that Ebay, which has 187 million buyers on its platform, now allows the sale of non-fungible tokens (NFT). EBay said: “This is just the beginning. The initial launch will help us learn more about what is important to the community.”
Ebay Inc. announced on Tuesday that sellers can now sell non-fungible tokens (NFT) on its platform, which currently has approximately 187 million buyers.
“Recently, we have seen a lot of attention, media reports and online conversations about high-end collectibles (or alternative assets as many people call them). Interests and investments cover everything from trading cards and comics to collectible sneakers and artworks. Field,” the company wrote, adding:
Today, we are updating Ebay’s policy to include the sale of NFTs. In the short term, NFT inventory will be provided by trusted sellers who meet our high standards, covering categories such as trading cards, music, entertainment, and art.
Ebay continued: “This is just the beginning. The initial launch will help us learn more about what is important to the community. Hope to see that it will make it easier and more confident for our audience to buy and sell NFTs in a wider range of categories. Plans, policies and tools.”
The company pointed out: “In the coming months, Ebay will add new features to bring blockchain-driven collectibles to our platform.”
Earlier this month, Ebay CEO Jamie Iannone revealed that his company is considering accepting cryptocurrency as a payment method. “We are expanding the payment methods we use. Now, we use Apple Pay and Google Pay. More choices for buyers… We will continue to look for other options, such as cryptocurrency.” said the CEO.
