Christopher Walken is reportedly playing Padisha Emperor Shadam IV in Dune: Part II, the sequel to filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic Dune.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walken will star in the highly anticipated sequel to the Oscar-winning film alongside newcomers Florence Pugh and Austin Butler.

Walken is best known for starring in Annie Hall, The Deer Hunter, The Killing View, Batman Returns, True Romance, Pulp Fiction and If You Can Catch Me.

He recently starred in two critically acclaimed shows – Amazon Prime Video’s The Outlaws and the Apple TV+ series Severance.

Dune and Dune: The second part is both based on author Frank Herbert’s Dune series of novels.

“Dune” opens in October 2021 and tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothy Chalamet), a brilliant and brilliant man born to a great destiny he cannot comprehend , he must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe, Arrakis, where the future of his family and his people is in danger.

Dune: The second part will continue where the first part left off, with Atreides fighting alongside the Fremen to free the desert planet Arrakis from the clutches of Harkonnen.

Although the character didn’t appear in the first film, Padisha Emperor Shadam IV is a key figure in Herbert’s novel, as he was originally responsible for casting Oscar Isaac’s Paul Atreides in the film Leto, his father, was sent to Arakis.

Chalamet will return for the sequel, along with his co-stars Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Bardem.

Pugh and Butler recently joined the cast to play the emperor’s daughter, Princess Ilulan, and the presumed heir to the Harkonnen dynasty, Feder-Rosa Harkonnen, respectively.

Jon Spaihts will return to co-write the script with Villeneuve, who will direct and produce the sequel.

Dune: Part II is expected to begin production later this year, with a release date of October 20, 2023.
