The DJI Air 2S drone has been launched in the United States. It is the successor of DJI Mavic Air 2, but the company has decided to cancel the Mavic name this time. DJI Air 2S has made several improvements to its predecessor, such as a higher maximum speed, a foldable arm and an improved camera. However, compared with the 34 minutes of DJI Mavic Air 2, the flight time of the DJI Air 2S drone is only 31 minutes. DJI Air 2S is also sold in a special combination package, which also includes a shoulder bag.
DJI Airlines 2S price
The standard package of the DJI Air 2S is priced at US$999 (approximately Rs 74,400), with a battery and three pairs of low-noise propellers. DJI Air 2S Fly More Combo is priced at US$1,299 (approximately Rs 96,800), including three batteries, six pairs of low-noise propellers, ND filter pack, battery charging hub, battery to mobile power adapter and a shoulder bag.
So far, DJI has not shared detailed information about international availability.
DJI Air 2S specifications and functions
DJI Air 2S is a foldable drone with GPS, GLONASS, a compass, 8GB internal storage and 3,500mAh battery. This gives the drone a total flight time of 31 minutes (no wind) and a maximum hover time of 30 minutes. The maximum flight speed is 19 meters per second and the maximum flight distance is 18.5 kilometers.
DJI Air 2S can be connected to the controller via 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency and will automatically change to the best channel available. The main upgrade of Air 2S is the camera. Compared with the previous 1/2-inch sensor, it now has a 1-inch CMOS sensor with f/2.8 lens. It has a resolution of 20 megapixels and a field of view of 88 degrees. In manual mode, it has an ISO range of 100 to 12,800, and can shoot 5,472×3,648 pixel images in a 3:2 aspect ratio, or 5,472×3,078 pixels in a 16:9 aspect ratio. DJI Air 2S has a bit rate of 150 Mbps and can record up to 5.4K (5,472×3,078 pixels) at 30 fps or 4K at 60fps. It can also shoot 1080p at 120fps. You can use a microSD card (up to 256GB) to expand the built-in 8GB storage space.
DJI Air 2S also has precision measuring sensors facing forward, backward, up and down. There are binocular vision sensors and time-of-flight sensors (ToF) at the bottom, all of which allow the drone to detect obstacles in four directions. The controller of the DJI Air 2S has a battery life of six hours and is transmitted to the drone using the company’s OcuSync 2.0. The size of the drone in the folded state is 180x97x77mm, and the size in the unfolded state is 183x253x77mm. It weighs 595 grams, which is 25 grams heavier than DJI Mavic Air 2.
